Its’ summertime and with that comes BBQ-ing. It is a right of passage and something that we all love to enjoy as long as we can. However, most BBQ sauces are really high in processed sugars, which although yummy, are not the best choice. Here is a great tasting recipe that helps to lower the sugar content while keeping all the flavour.
15 oz can Tomato paste
¾ c Water
¼ c Balsamic vinegar
2 tsp ground mustard
¼ c Raw, local honey
2 Tbsp Maple syrup
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Onion powder
1 tsp Paprika
- Add all ingredients to a saucepan.
- Simmer over medium/high heat.
- Reduce heat to low for 15-20 min until thickened to the desired consistency.
- Let cool and bottle.
- Can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
